Vitalik Buterin Highlights Ethereum’s Advantages with Verkle Trees
Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain, has expressed optimism about the integration of Verkle trees into the blockchain network. He believes that this data structure will greatly improve the disk space usage of betting nodes.
Buterin has highlighted that Verkle trees will not only enable the creation of new functionalities, but also save a significant amount of storage space required to run a node. He is confident that the implementation of Verkle trees will bring numerous benefits to the Ethereum blockchain.
The digital asset community on X has been eagerly anticipating the integration of Verkle trees into Ethereum. One user has even stated that the possibility of near-zero burdensome drive space requirements and near-instant synchronization is a game-changer.
The Ethereum update, known as the Dencun Update, is expected to incorporate Verkle trees. However, developers have stated that the update will not take place this year, as more work needs to be done. Apart from Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIP) 4844, also known as proto-danksharding, the upgrade will include the implementation of seven additional EIPs that will affect specific aspects of the blockchain.
