Uniswap Founder Warns of Scammers Capitalizing on ENS Domains to Target Victims
Uniswap founder Hayden Adams has issued a warning about scammers who are taking advantage of Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domains to manipulate user interfaces of crypto wallets and target unsuspecting victims. In a recent post, Adams alerted the crypto community to a new scam that targets inattentive users by purchasing ENS domains that resemble legitimate addresses but use alphanumeric sequences instead of alphabetic characters. This tactic confuses users, as certain wallet interfaces display the scammer’s address as the top result when pasting a legitimate address. Adams stressed the importance of implementing filters in interfaces to combat such scams and urged users to be cautious. ENS is a domain name system built on the Ethereum blockchain that allows users to replace long, complex Ethereum addresses with human-readable names. In response to the issue, ENS founder Nick Johnson stated that the team would advise against auto-completing names in the search bar due to the potential dangers associated with this feature.
