Twitter Influencer Teases Apple

Renowned Twitter influencer Udi Wertheimer has stirred up excitement over Apple’s impending entry into the immersive virtual reality realm. Speculation is rife about how this release will revolutionize the metaverse.

At the start of the year, the value of native tokens for blockchain-based metaverse projects Decentraland and Sandbox surged as interest in the metaverse soared. Apple’s venture into hybrid realities is another driving force behind this trend.

On May 15, independent developer Udi Wertheimer took to Twitter to draw attention to the impact of meme currencies fueled by social media. He also hinted at the potential effect of Apple’s upcoming release on metaverse token prices, sparking even more anticipation for the rumored headgear.

Market analyst Josh Gilbert of eToro acknowledged the potential influence of Apple’s device on the markets, given the company’s track record of groundbreaking product launches. Gilbert raised the question of whether the introduction of the headgear alone will be a game-changer for digital currencies related to the metaverse. It’s important to note that VR tokens are distinct from Metaverse tokens, with Decentraland actively developing its virtual reality capabilities, while the Sandbox does not plan to incorporate virtual reality technology.

Experts like Gilbert have emphasized that creating a truly immersive metaverse experience is a long-term goal. The success of metaverse tokens such as MANA and Sandbox’s token hinges on the speed at which the metaverse is embraced by the public, much like the time it took for iPhone applications to fully utilize the device’s capabilities after its initial release.

Despite considerable investment in research and development, organizations like Meta (formerly Facebook) are still grappling with achieving widespread acceptance of immersive virtual worlds, despite the meteoric rise in value of tokens like MANA and SAND during the 2021 crypto bull run.

Rumors from Apple analyst Mark Gurhman suggest that the tech giant will unveil its new headset on June 5. This marks Apple’s first major product launch since the Apple Watch in 2015, creating high levels of anticipation.
