Tornado Cash receives $6.5m in ETH from Prisma Finance hacker.
PeckShield has disclosed the movement of funds from addresses connected to the Prisma Finance protocol hack.
Analysts have traced the flow of money in wallets involved in the illicit operation. In two separate transactions, the hacker transferred 1,840 Ethereum (ETH) valued at approximately $6.5 million to the Tornado Cash mixer.
After some time, experts observed that the attacker reached out to the Prisma Finance developers. The exploiter expressed the desire to relocate the funds to a secure location before proceeding to the next phase.
The hacker, whose identity remains unknown, also posed several questions to the developers. The attacker was particularly interested in their knowledge of smart contracts and whether the project had undergone an audit prior to deployment.
According to the message, the exploiters are solely driven by the necessity to ensure proper project audits and the security of smart contracts. The possible return of the stolen funds was not mentioned by the hacker.
On March 28, Prisma Finance fell victim to a security breach. Cybersecurity experts from Cyvers estimated that the protocol suffered losses of around $9 million, with the attacker funding the hack through the FixedFloat cryptocurrency exchange. However, PeckShield experts have provided additional information regarding the volume of stolen assets, reporting losses of $11.6 million.
