Reports indicate that a counterfeit server containing malware briefly redirected users from a Discord link.

CertiK, a security blockchain auditing firm, recently experienced a security incident when a Discord link appeared on their official website. This link redirected users to a fake server that contained harmful malware. The discovery was brought to the attention of the blockchain community by @PopPunkOnChain and @Burnttoken. The fraudulent server hosted a counterfeit CollabLand bot and malicious software that aimed to steal assets from crypto wallets.

Crypto.news was unable to immediately verify these reports. At the time of this article, CertiK had not made a public statement regarding the incident, and the full extent of the attack is still unknown. However, the malicious link is no longer present on the official website, suggesting that the CertiK team may have already addressed the issue.

In November 2023, crypto.news reported on a new method used by scammers to steal funds. They would impersonate legitimate crypto investigators and deceive unsuspecting victims on X. Crypto sleuth ZachXBT issued a warning on social media, revealing the existence of a “large network of bot accounts” that were actively impersonating crypto detectives. According to ZachXBT’s investigation, these scammers managed to steal over $300,000 worth of cryptocurrency in just a few days. They also impersonated blockchain analytics firms like CertiK and Scam Sniffer.
