Miner’s Bitcoin Block Yields 6.36 BTC as Halving Nears
A lone miner successfully mined a single block of Bitcoin and earned 6.36 BTC just before the upcoming halving event. On April 5th, a miner with a hashrate of 7 PH/s added block #837,814 to the blockchain of the popular cryptocurrency. According to Mempool, the miner received a total of 6.36 BTC, which was equivalent to $422,750 at the time of mining the block. This amount included a commission of 0.1 BTC.
Con Kolyvas, the administrator of CKPool, stated that the miner had been mining intermittently since the pool’s last restart. On average, the miner had accumulated about 0.05% of the shares required to solve a block.
In October 2023, another solo miner with a hardware power of 11 PH/s successfully included a block in the Bitcoin network. This miner received a reward of 6.25 BTC and a commission of 0.09 BTC. Additionally, in May 2023, a different individual earned $177,115 by mining a block, which included a reward of 6.25 BTC and a commission of 0.24 BTC.
By the end of March 2024, the difficulty of mining Bitcoin had decreased by 0.97%, reaching an indicator of 83.13 T. The average hashrate during this period was 593.99 EH/s, calculated since the previous change in difficulty. The time between blocks remained consistent at 10 minutes and 7 seconds.
