Major exchange listings secured for W token, set to launch on April 3
Wormhole, a prominent cross-chain protocol, has exciting news to share with the cryptocurrency community. They will soon be launching their highly anticipated W governance token.
To make the token accessible to as many users as possible, several crypto exchanges have already announced their plans to list it for spot trading immediately after the airdrop claim becomes available to eligible participants.
Wormhole had previously provided details about the W token airdrop, revealing that over 400,000 wallets will have the opportunity to participate. A significant amount of 617.3 million W tokens have been set aside for the initial airdrop, which aims to benefit the community and ecosystem. Early adopters on platforms like Solana, Ethereum, and others, as well as various crypto communities, will reap the rewards.
The announcement of “Wormhole Wednesday” on April 3 was shared through an X post last week. This post indicated that the claim process for the W airdrop will commence at 11:30 am UTC.
In response, several exchanges, including Bitget, OKX, Backpack, and Gate.io, have revealed their plans to list the W token for trading at 12 pm UTC on the day of the launch. It is expected that more platforms will join the lineup in the near future.
The launch of the W token is set to be one of the highlights in the crypto space this year, given Wormhole’s prominent position in the industry. Initially, the token will be available as a Solana SPL20 token, but there are plans to extend support to the Ethereum ERC-20 token standard, showcasing the protocol’s cross-chain capabilities.
Currently, W tokens are trading at $1.65 in the pre-market on Whales Market. Wormhole has disclosed that there will be 1.8 billion tokens in circulation at the time of the launch, out of a total supply of 10 billion tokens.
If the pre-market price remains steady until the launch, the token will enter the market with a market capitalization of nearly $3 billion. This would place it among the top 50 cryptocurrencies, according to CoinGecko’s rankings.
