Logan Paul receives criticism following announcement of $2.3m reimbursement for CryptoZoo NFTs.
Tom Kherkher, the owner of the Attorney Tom and Associates law firm and a popular YouTuber, has criticized Logan Paul’s recent announcement to repurchase CryptoZoo non-fungible tokens (NFTs), stating that it is filled with inaccuracies.
On January 4th, Logan Paul made a post outlining his plan to personally spend over $2.3 million to buy back NFTs that were purchased through CryptoZoo. CryptoZoo is a crypto game that revolves around NFTs, but it failed to meet the expectations set during its promotion and received a mixed response upon release.
In his latest refund announcement, Paul stated that individuals can submit claims for the buy-back through a special website until February 8th. However, it is unlikely that early supporters will be fully compensated, as the website states that claimants will receive up to 0.1 ETH per eligible NFT submitted.
Furthermore, Paul emphasized that the buyback is not intended to compensate individuals who took risks in the crypto market and lost. This implies that buyers of the in-game currency, ZOO tokens, are unlikely to receive any compensation. Additionally, claimants would need to waive any actual or anticipated claims against Paul, meaning they promise not to take legal action against him regarding CryptoZoo.
Tom Kherkher, a YouTuber and owner of the Attorney Tom and Associates law firm, criticized Paul’s refund initiative, calling it a sneaky trick in a post. Alan Wehbi, who claims to be the largest ZOO holder and goes by @doitbigchicago on Twitter, expressed dissatisfaction with Paul’s buyback after discovering that he had been blocked by the influencer on the social network. However, Wehbi did not disclose the amount he had invested in ZOO tokens.
This is not the first time Paul has promised to compensate those who lost money in the crypto game. In early 2023, he unveiled a $1.3 million recovery plan for disappointed players who contributed to CryptoZoo. It remains unclear if Paul has made any compensations since his initial announcement last year.
