Krafton, the developer of PUBG, tantalizes gamers with a metaverse video game called Overdare.
Krafton, the renowned game developer from South Korea, is gearing up to take on Roblox with its latest creation, a video game called Overdare. According to The Korea Economic Daily (KED), Overdare is being developed in collaboration with Naver Z, a metaverse unit of Naver Corp, a prominent South Korean internet conglomerate. This new mobile-based user-generated content (UGC) platform is expected to rival popular building video games like The Sandbox and Roblox.
Overdare will utilize the powerful Unreal Engine 5 and incorporate generative artificial intelligence, although specific details about the AI technology have not been disclosed. The game will offer players the ability to personalize their digital avatars and engage in conversations with friends.
Some reports, citing a statement from Krafton, suggest that the video game will be built on the Settlus blockchain network. The blockchain integration will reportedly establish a “create-to-earn” in-game economy, supporting non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
As of now, neither Krafton nor Naver Z have made any public announcements regarding these developments. However, KED states that Krafton plans to reveal more information about Overdare in December 2023.
In March 2022, Krafton entered into a partnership with Solana to release products on their network. Under the agreement, Solana Labs was expected to assist the game developer with game design and marketing. However, Krafton ultimately decided not to utilize Solana for its upcoming project.
