Instant trading frenzy discovered for NFTs

The first-ever NFT drop from FIFA+ Collect Club has successfully sold out within a mere three hours of its release, as stated in a press release shared with crypto.news.

The FIFA+ Collect Club, a collaborative effort between FIFA and technology company Modex, made its digital collectible “membership cards” available on December 12th, with each card priced at $999. According to Modex, all the membership cards were purchased within the three-hour window.

Modex also revealed that as part of the membership program, holders of the sold-out VIP cards will receive an airdrop on December 26th, consisting of highlights from the FIFA Club World Cup 2023, which will be hosted in Saudi Arabia next year. The statement claims that two of the highlights will come with tickets to the FIFA World Cup 2026 final and the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 final, both of which will take place in the United States.

Building on the success of the initial release, Modex has announced plans to launch a second set of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the OpenSea marketplace and the Polygon (MATIC) network on December 19th. The press release states that a total of 900 NFTs will be released, representing VIP experiences and physical items from the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup. However, the specific details of the items or benefits associated with each NFT will only be revealed at the time of purchase.

Among the offerings mentioned are tickets to prestigious FIFA ceremonies and events, autographed memorabilia from the tournament, and limited-edition collectibles such as player-signed corner flags and referee kits. This FIFA initiative bears a striking resemblance to the NBA Top Shot NFT series by the National Basketball Association, which faced possible scrutiny as securities earlier this year.
