Hedera dominates developer activity leaderboard sparking Chainlinks surge
Chainlink experienced a significant surge in developer engagement during June, propelling the decentralized oracle network into second place behind Hedera, as reported by Santiment, a leading market intelligence platform. According to Santiment’s analysis, Hedera maintained its lead as the most active cryptocurrency on GitHub, but Chainlink’s GitHub repository showed a notable increase in activity over the past 30 days, securing its position in second.
Santiment recently published a post on July 1 listing the top 10 projects based on GitHub events in June. This ranking was determined by calculating development activity, averaging daily contributions over a 30-day period. Despite Hedera leading with 759 GitHub events, Chainlink on Ethereum followed closely with 526 events, placing it second. Optimism (OP) ranked third with 481 events, and Internet Computer (ICP) came fourth with 434 events. Rounding out the top 10 were Cardano (ADA), Status (SNT), Cosmos (ATOM), ZKsync (ZK), Starknet (STRK), and Aptos (APT).
In terms of market performance last month, these cryptocurrencies showed varied results. Starknet and ZKsync, newly launched with significant volatility following their airdrops, contrasted with others that saw declines amidst broader market downturns. HBAR fell by 25%, while LINK, OP, ICP, and ADA dropped by 22%, 28%, 32%, and 10% respectively. Cosmos Hub and Aptos tokens also experienced declines of 19% and 22% over the same period.
Despite market challenges, the high level of developer activity indicates robust network development across these projects, potentially leading to product advancements and increased user adoption, as highlighted by Santiment. For instance, Chainlink recently announced the integration of six services across eight blockchain networks, including Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, BNB Chain, Ethereum, and Polygon, reflecting ongoing expansion efforts and technological adoption.
