Gemini secures exclusive partnership with Real Bedford FC

Real Bedford Football Club, co-owned by Peter McCormack and supported by the Winklevoss twins, has entered into an innovative partnership where all financial transactions will be conducted in Bitcoin (BTC).

Gemini, the renowned cryptocurrency exchange, has just announced a five-year sponsorship deal with Real Bedford FC, located in Bedford, England. This agreement entails that all sponsorship payments will be exclusively made in Bitcoin, further bolstering Real Bedford’s Bitcoin treasury.

The club has taken a bold step by integrating cryptocurrency into its financial framework. This move allows players to receive their payments in digital currency, while fans are offered the flexibility to purchase tickets and merchandise using Bitcoin.

Peter McCormack, the club’s owner, emphasized the financial benefits of adopting Bitcoin, noting, “By incorporating Bitcoin into our treasury, we’ve achieved a +62% return, thus fortifying the club’s financial standing and safeguarding against recent inflationary pressures.”

The Bitcoin payment, made upfront, is intended to support the club in its quest for success and to enhance opportunities for local youth. Real Bedford FC harbors ambitions of ascending to the Premier League.

Real Bedford FC and the crypto connection
Earlier this year, Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, founders of Gemini, became investors in Real Bedford FC. The brothers injected $4.5 million worth of Bitcoin into the club through their investment firm, Winklevoss Capital. This move granted them co-ownership alongside Peter McCormack, who acquired Real Bedford FC in 2022.

Recently, the Winklevoss twins contributed $2 million in Bitcoin to support Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. They also criticized the Biden administration’s approach to cryptocurrency regulations.
