Front-end cyberattacks target Defi platforms Aerodrome and Velodrome
Aerodrome and Velodrome, two well-known defi platforms, have recently fallen victim to a breach in their front-end systems. The incidents took place on November 28, as announced by the platforms themselves.
In response to these security concerns, both Aerodrome and Velodrome have issued warnings to their users through X, urging them to refrain from engaging with their services. They have also launched thorough investigations into the breaches. Velodrome has gone a step further and advised users against using the web link provided in their social media bio.
ZachXBT, a respected analyst and influential figure in the crypto community, has brought attention to the fact that approximately $40,000 worth of digital assets have been transferred from the compromised platforms. These assets are associated with two separate digital wallet addresses.
Based on the latest data from DefiLlama, Aerodrome currently holds a total value of $62.68 million, while Velodrome’s total value is $136.76 million. It is worth noting that Velodrome is considered the largest decentralized exchange (DEX) on the Optimism network, whereas Aerodrome operates as a fork of the Velodrome protocol and has established itself as the leading DEX on the Base network.
