EigenLayer reveals roadmap for mainnet launch
EigenLayer, a project focused on restaking Ethereum, has announced its roadmap for the launch of its mainnet. In a recent blog post, Eigen Labs outlined its strategy, which prioritizes security and performance and will be implemented in phases over the next few weeks. The project has received a significant investment of $100 million from venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz and currently holds assets worth over $10 billion. EigenLayer allows users to restake their ether and secure third-party protocols using these funds.
To prepare for the mainnet launch, EigenLayer will conduct a final testnet phase on Ethereum’s Holesky testnet. This transition is necessary as the Goerli testnet lacks support from Ethereum client teams. During the stage 2 testnet on Goerli, more than 6,000 operators participated. As EigenLayer moves closer to the mainnet launch, the web app and contracts will be temporarily suspended to ensure a smooth deployment and operator onboarding.
Once this pause is complete, operators will be gradually allowed to register on the mainnet. Approximately a year ago, Eigen Labs secured $50 million in series A funding, with Blockchain Capital leading the investment and contributions from Coinbase Ventures and Polychain Capital, among others.
