UK Court Declares Craig Wright is Not the Founder of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto

In a groundbreaking ruling, the U.K. High Court has settled the long-standing debate over the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin. Craig Wright, who had claimed to be Nakamoto, was officially debunked by the court, which also declared that he did not write Bitcoin’s whitepaper.

The verdict comes as a major victory for the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA), an organization that took legal action against Wright in order to prevent him from filing lawsuits against developers and others in the cryptocurrency industry for alleged infringement on Bitcoin’s intellectual property. The court, after a month-long trial, found the evidence against Wright’s claim to be compelling and unequivocally stated his lack of involvement in Bitcoin’s inception.

COPA’s success in this case has garnered support from influential figures and companies in the tech and cryptocurrency sectors, including Twitter founder Jack Dorsey and Coinbase. The court also dismissed two additional lawsuits filed by Wright, one against Coinbase and another against Dorsey’s Block, citing the lack of merit in his claim as Satoshi. These dismissals were contingent upon the outcome of the main case.

Throughout the six-week trial, COPA vehemently challenged Wright’s assertion as Bitcoin’s creator, highlighting his alleged presentation of false evidence and inconsistencies in his narrative. Jonathan Hough, representing COPA, underscored Wright’s credibility issues during the closing arguments.

Wright has been involved in numerous legal battles over the past five years, asserting his rights as the founder of Bitcoin. COPA’s legal action aimed to put an end to Wright’s claims and prevent any future litigation. A representative from COPA expressed the organization’s desire to prevent Wright from making further claims as Satoshi in order to avoid additional legal disputes and the potential legal ramifications associated with his actions.
